Selvam Ramachandran is presently working as Associate Professor in the Department of Physiotherapy at School of Allied Health Sciences, Manipal University. Previously he was working as Associate Professor in the Department of Physiotherapy, Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences, Gangtok until Jan 2015. He completed his Doctor of Philosophy (Mar 2017) from Sikkim Manipal University, Gangtok, Master of Physiotherapy (Nov 2005) and Bachelor of Physiotherapy (August 2000) from the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai. He also completed PG Diploma in Basic Developmental Therapy at Spastic Society of Tamil Nadu (Jul 2003) and PG Diploma in Bioethics at ICMR-IGNOU (Dec 2014). His health professions education training includes CMCL-FAIMER Fellowship (2013) and JIPMER 67th NTTC (2013). He has also undergone long term Bioethics Training Program under the Centrally Coordinated Bioethics Education Program in India and also drafted the Standard Operating Procedure Manual for SMIMS IEC. He successfully completed an ICMR ad-hoc research project on early physiotherapy intervention of preterm, VLBW infants (IRIS ID: 2008-07900). In the previous workplace viz. at SMIMS, he was assigned with the responsibilities of Member – Medical Education Unit; Faculty I/c – Research Unit; Member Secretary – Institution Ethics Committee; Asst Member Secretary – Research Protocol Evaluation Committee; Member Secretary – Publication Evaluation Committee at Institute Level. In the present workplace he is entrusted with the responsibility of Coordinator of Health Professions Education Unit and Continuing Professional Education Registry of School of Allied Health Sciences. His professional interests include treating of neurologically disabled children, EBP, innovations in Physiotherapy teaching – learning methods.
