On September 23, 2014 the Manipal University, Manipal and Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER), Philadelphia, USA launched a leadership programme in interprofessional education.
Manipal University-FAIMER International Institute for Leadership in Interprofessional Education (MUFIILIPE), the first one of its kind in the region, emphasizes on the development of leadership competencies for interprofessional practice (IPP).
The two year fellowship programme includes two annual one-week residential sessions at Manipal University, Karnataka, India and two 11-month online learning sessions which follow the residential sessions. The details of the fellowship are available at http://mu.faimerfri.org/
At a function held in the counselling hall of the university building, MoUs were exchanged in the presence of Ms. Ralf Graves, Associate Director, FAIMER regional institutes and Dr. K Ramnarayan, Vice Chancellor, Manipal University. Pro-Vice Chancellor, Dr Vinod Bhat released the promotional material and Ms Ralf Graves launched the MUFIILIPE website. Dr Ciraj AM, Course Director, MUFIILIPE explained the objectives and outline of the course. Dr Surendra Shetty (Pro Vice Chancellor) presented a memento to the chief guest. Dr Sudhakar Nayak welcomed the gathering and Dr Anand R. proposed the vote of thanks.
The Manipal University-FAIMER International Institute for Leadership in Interprofessional Education (MUFIILIPE) will welcome its first group of Fellows in May 2015. The program is open to all professions interested in contributing to the health of communities, particularly from South Asia. Twenty fellows will be accepted each year. The selected candidates will have an opportunity to develop their leadership skills through health related projects that incorporate collaborative interprofessional practice.
