Aarthy Ramasamy
is a trained public health professional. She has a bachelor’s medical degree from Dr. M.G.R University, Chennai. She always had keen interest in public health since her undergraduate days which encouraged her to pursue a Masters degree in Public Health from a prestigious institution in India called Achutha Menon Centre for Health Science Studies, Trivandrum which is recognized as a centre of excellence for public health training by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. After her post graduate training, she was working with a US-based NGO named Population Services International at Secunderabad as a consultant for their UNICEF project. It was for a brief stint which also involved field activities where she travelled to places like Vijayawada and Visakapatnam. She next moved to Pune where she was working for Human Rights based NGO called SATHI, Pune where she was working as a coordinator for their fellowship programme and was also involved with their Community Based Monitoring (CBM) programme. After a brief stint there she later moved to National Institute of Virology, Pune an ICMR institution. she was working in the epidemiology department for a surveillance project for diseases like influenza, dengue and chikungunya in a slum area in Pune. Her next work place is at Manipal University where she is teaching Public Health for post-graduate students, community medicine for under-graduate medical students and coordinator for the Study Abroad Program. She has keen interest in teaching and doing research. She have been a recipient of DAAD scholarship, Germany.

Abhishek Chaturvedi
was born on 19th July 1988 in Rajasthan and thus began his first chapter. He attended a host of schools across Rajasthan including the very prestigious DMS, Ajmer. Aiming to reach greater heights, Mr. Abhishek decided to start his second chapter in Bangalore where he joined Oxford College of Science and obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Genetics and Biotechnology from Bangalore University in 2008. With biochemistry topping his interests, he carried the subject into the third chapter of his life in Manipal. Mr. Abhishek completed his Master’s course in medical biochemistry from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal in 2011 and emerged as the topper in the final year university examinations.

He kick started his next chapter of financial freedom in the auditing firm Ernst & Young which gave him a corporate exposure. He later moved to Clumax Diagnostics, Bangalore as a Biochemist for the likes of his skills. Moving ahead in life being his motto, Mr. Abhishek decided to move back to Manipal to start his fifth chapter and joined Melaka Manipal Medical College, Manipal Campus in April 2012 to pursue a career as an academician and researcher. Owing to his varied interests, Mr. Abhishek has attended many talks and workshops covering subject research, laboratory skills, professional and personal development and medical education to enrich the pages of the recent chapter in the past 3 years in Manipal. He holds interests in sports and fitness, adventure sports, travelling and trekking.

Anitha Guru
was born on the 30th of September 1985 in the nation’s capital New Delhi to Bangalore based engineer parents. Having moved to Bangalore at a tender age of 4, she did most part of her schooling in Bangalore and went on to finish her schooling from Gandhinagar, Gujarat in May 2003. Bearing no pressure from her parents to take up a professional course, Ms. Anitha took the path to science and joined St. Joseph’s College of Arts and Science, Bangalore. She graduated from Bangalore University in June 2006 with a triple major Bachelor’s degree. She also completed two certificate courses (120 hours each), “7 habits of highly effective people” and “Neuro Linguistic Programming”. A short stint with human anatomy in 3rd year sparked an interest in the subject and she went on to obtain her Master’s degree in Medical Anatomy in August 2009 from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal.

The Malaysian programme at International Medical School (IMS), Bangalore provided Ms. Anitha with a strong base to take off from into the world of financial freedom in October 2009. After 6 months of teaching at IMS, she returned to Manipal to join Melaka Manipal Medical College, Manipal Campus in April 2006 and has built 5 years of teaching and learning experience. Ms. Anitha is an avid reader, ardent traveler and a passionate cook. She is trained in Bharatanatyam and possesses an appetite for various dance forms and finer things in life.

Anne D Souza
is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anatomy, Kasturba Medical College Manipal. She is actively involved in research in the field of anatomy and medical education. She has attended and presented papers in various international and national conferences and has published several research articles in indexed international journals. Her areas of research interest are clinical anatomy, radiological anatomy, embryology, and medical education. She is interested in teaching Anatomy using innovative and active learning strategies. She is an AHA (American Heart Association) certified Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support provider and is involved in training the students about life support.






Arathi Rao P:
In introducing myself, I am Dr P Arathi Rao presently working as a faculty with the Department of Public Health, Manipal University. I have a medical degree from Bangalore University, Karnataka, as well as a postgraduate diploma in Obstetrics and Gynecology from RGUHS, Karnataka following which, I have worked as a senior resident in OB-GYN at Manipal Hospital, Bangalore. On relocating to Udupi, I was engaged with Mission Hospital, Udupi, as a lady medical officer. Subsequently, I was employed as an Assistant Professor at KMC International Centre, Manipal. Having a passion in global public health, I pursued my Masters in Public Health at Manipal University and have been working as a faculty with the same department. Teaching is my passion and I have mentored student research, especially those related to Maternal and Child Health. My areas of research interest include epidemiology including maternal and child health aspects and occupational health. Currently, a manuscript related to verbal autopsy for causes of infant deaths in Udupi district is in the process of publication. Other interests: I am a trained Indian classical musician and bharatnatyam dancer. 




Arvind Kumar Pandey
is Assistant Professor in the Department of Anatomy at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal. He is passionate about teaching. His special areas of research interest include clinical anatomy, abdominal obesity and medical education. As a teacher guardian he supervises teaching & learning process of students. He is an AHA (American Heart Association) certified Basic life support provider and is also involved in training the students at Medical Simulation Center of Manipal University. He has presented research papers in various national & international conferences and has several publications in both national and international indexed journals. He participates regularly in the events organized by Medical Education Unit of Manipal University. 






Jamuna Rani
did her Post Graduation in Medical Biochemistry from KMC,Manipal. As a student at Manipal stood third in the ECFMG Lecture contest held at KMC,Manipal. Started working at Sree Manakula Vinayagar Medical College and Hospital ,Pondicherry as Tutor since 2005 after serving there for a year moved to Sree Balaji Medical College and Hospital, Chennai in 2006 and currently is Associate Professor in Department of Biochemistry. Completed Ph.D from Bharath University in May 2014. Has ten years teaching experience. Noteworthy achievements in Medical education include paper presentation at Saveetha University in the year 2008, Best paper award for the paper titled “Alternate Teaching Learning methods a welcome idea among students” at NTTC JIPMER Pondicherry,National Conference held in October 2010. In the year 2012 presented a paper in Lyon ,France at the International Conference organized by Association of Medical Education in Europe. The same paper was published in Medical Teacher journal Volume Issue. Coordinator in Institutional cultural and Sports activities. Passionate about teaching. Has co-authored a science book for VI grade of Papua New Guinea syllabus. Compiled a interview of 13 eminent professors at Sree Balaji Medical College & Hospital titled “Rendez Vous at Balaji”. Has ten publications in research and review in various scopus and pubmed indexed journals. 



Johnson Alex
is an Associate Professor & Head in the Department of Clinical Psychology, School of Allied Health Sciences, Manipal University. He is a Clinical Psychologist with a basic degree in Clinical Psychology from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, Manipal University, Karnataka. He has been involved as core teaching faculty for M.Phil (Cli.Psy.) & M.Sc (Cli.Psy.) courses. Also teaching General & Clinical Psychology course module to MD (Psychiatry), Allied Health Sciences & Nursing Courses. More than 10 years of teaching and clinical service record at Manipal University.

He has been involved as resource person for workshops on Counseling and Communication Exam stress, Behavioral Management at Classroom. He has an expertise in dealing with students with behavioral and learning problems and completed Ph.D in the area of Learning Disabilities. He has guided 10 post-graduate dissertations at Manipal University. He has worked as a Clinical Psychologist in schizophrenia multicenter clinical drug trial with ACUNOVA Mangalore and Merck pharmaceutical company. He was Principal Investigator of ICMR funded project on “Development of Learning strategy inventory and CBT based stress management intervention for Adolescents”

Achievements to his credit as best outgoing (First Rank) student of Psychology Post-graduation course from University of Calicut and best teacher award from Manipal College of Nursing Manipal, Manipal University. He has been is involved in several research projects as Principal and Co-Investigator. Trained in Neuropsychological assessment from Pensylvania University. Several National Index Journal Publications. His major areas of interest is Learning & Learning Disabilities, Child and Adolescent Cognitive Psychology.

Kamath Madhusudhana
, D.pharm ,BAMS,MD ,MBA PGDTQM, FAGE, obtained an MD from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore. Specialized in Herbal Pharmacology and MBA in Health care services. I Carry out research , clinical and use to teach graduate and postgraduate programs. at the Manipal University.

Join the Manipal university in 2007,and soon in 2008 became assistant professor in The Department of Ayurveda , KMC, Manipal University, Manipl , am having five certificate courses in my credit. Participated in more than 65 Conferences / Seminars / Workshops / CME’S. and Delivered many gust talks as a resource person , published 9 articles , Presented more than 20 papers in National and international conferences. I am working as the editor of the International Journal of Ayurveda and Allied Sciences . Worked as a co - investigator in four research projects and Organized one National conference and two workshops of academic interest as Organizing Secretary

Kanishk Gupta
is working as an Assistant Professor in Dept. of Periodontology since past three years at Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Manipal, Karnataka. He is also a faculty for ‘Esthetic Dentistry Course’ conducted by Manipal University. He has undergone training in Laser Dentistry and 5 day Teachers’ Training Program conducted by Manipal University. He has additional responsibilities like planning undergraduate, postgraduate curriculum as a part of Board of studies and treasurer (Indian Dental Association, Manipal Branch). He is a member of an international project “AMCHI” that treats unpriviledged kids in ladakh. He has won Best Paper/ Poster awards at both National and International Conferences. His special areas of interest include teaching, esthetics, lasers and is passionate for reading and travelling.





Mohammed Al-naami
obtained, at the age of 24, his MBBS degree at King Saud University (KSU) in 1986 and got promoted as a demonstrator at the department of surgery in the same university. He was sent for a scholarship and did his surgical training at the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada from 1986-1990 (FRCSC). He then joined the University of Toronto, Ontario, Canada and completed a Master's degree in medical education and surgical research (M Ed.) by June 1992. When he returned home, he was appointed as an assistant professor abiding many duties as a consultant general surgeon and medical educator. He was appointed as the deputy chairman of medical education center and program director of general surgery training until 2007. After promotion to associate professor in 2007 he was appointed as the head of general surgery division and the director of interprofessional health education program (IPHE) at KSU. He was promoted as Professor in 2014. Alnaami published and shared in more than 34 articles, 2 books, and presented in many conferences and meeting in both surgery and medical education. He also obtained many awards and prices. 




Mukhyaprana Prabhu
is working as Professor of Medicine & unit head in Kasturba Medical College Manipal for 5yaers. He is also working as academic coordinator of medical student exchange with Maastricht University, Netherlands. He has attended international medical education workshop in “Effective clinical teaching” in Groningen University Netherlands. He has also attended Competency based medical education workshop. He has been awarded good teacher award in KMC Manipal. His special interests are clinical teaching, medical education, Immunology & Diabetes. He has done short term fellowship in Immunology from SGPGI, Lucknow. He is keen on improving technology use in medical education. 






Nagamma T

I am Ms. Nagamma at present I am working as Senior Grade lecturer in Department of Biochemistry, Melaka Manipal Medical College (Manipal campus), Manipal University, India.

I got my Bachelor Degree from Nagarjuna University, Andhra Pradesh in 2000. I got my master degree in Medical Biochemistry in 2003 and persuing my PhD under Lalith Naraya Mithila University. I was also worked as Medical Biochemistry teacher for seven years in Manipal College of Medical Sciences, Pokhara, Nepal. I have been teaching biochemistry to undergraduate medical, dental and allied health sciences students for the past eleven years. Apart from teaching I have published a book on “MCQs in biochemistry with explanatory answers” and several research papers in national and international journals.

I love to read and travel. I am looking forward to an enjoyable learning experience once again in Manipal University.

Peralam Yegneswaran Prakash
is an Assistant Professor in Microbiologyand In-charge for the Mycology Division, Department of Microbiology, KMC, Manipal. He is involved with teaching assignments at Manipal group of institutions both at undergraduate, postgraduate levels and subject expert member for doctoral thesis at the Manipal Univeristy. With a research interests in the area of medical mycology he is involved with National and International collaborative projects and has published and presented scientific papers at conferences held in Japan, Finland, Thailand, Rome, Singapore and prestigious national forums on Medical Mycology. He had been invited in 2008 as a Guest Researcher at the CDC, Mycotic Diseases Branch, Atlanta, Georgia, USA, and is recipient of Summer Research Fellowship in 2008 from IAS-INSA-NASI. He has been elected as the The Young ISHAM representative for India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. He had been a resource person and coordinator for national level workshops on 'Techniques in Diagnostic Mycology' for Junior faculty members, postgraduate residents, research scholars in the country organized by Department of Microbiology, KMC, Manipal. He is currently involved as a member in the Physician & Scientists of Mycoses Study Group Education & Research Consortium. In 2014 he became a member of the International Forum of Teachers (IFT) of the UNESCO Chair in Bioethics and is steering committee member, KMC, Manipal Unit of UNESCO Chair in Bioethics. He received fellowship from Society of Applied Biotechnology and also the Distinguished Alumni Award from KMC, Manipal in the year 2014.

P Girija Ratna Kumari
is working as Professor & Head in the Department of Microbiology, Melaka Manipal Medical College, Manipal India. She has keen interest in curriculum development that would foster self-directed learning among medical students in India and in learning technologies in medical education to make learning enjoyable and memorable. She has participated in various training workshops conducted by MCPD of Manipal University in education science technology for teachers of health professionals. She has been a resource person for various training programmes related to HIV prevention and participated in a number of CME programmes and delivered lectures on various topics. She has various publications in the field of Microbiology.




 

Rajaneesh Tolahunase
is Professor of Anatomy and Radiology at SSR Medical College, affiliated to the University of Mauritius (UOM) and a member of the Medical Education Cell at the institute. He has undergone extensive training in Medical Education at UOM and in Research Methodology at Mauritius Research Council (MRC). A strategic model designed by him called OASIS [Outcome/Competence based, Active people participated, Structured, Integrated and Systems based approach] is adopted extensively in medical curriculum design. His interests include neurocognition in higher education, molecular neuoroimaging and lifestyle interventions for healthy mind, aging and longevity. His ongoing educational projects include, HELP (Hybrid Embedding of Lectures and Problems), CAHE (Comprehensive Assessment of Higher Education) and Neurocognitive approaches to Opportunities and challenges for Establishing and managing Institutes of higher education in Island Nations (NOEIIN). He is also the director of Gralides, with activities spanning education, health, habitat, business and life.




Ramprasad Vasthare Prabhakar
works as Associate Professor in the Department of Public Health Dentistry at Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Manipal, Manipal University. He is involved with teaching Dental Under Graduates and Post Graduates. He takes a special interest in areas related to Dental Education, Teaching and Learning, Epidemiology, Research Methodology and Tobacco Cessation. He has completed a Short Term Certificate Course in Tobacco Cessation and Health Promotion from Public Health Foundation of India, New Delhi. He is an active Life Member of many National and International related organizations and also a representative member of the South East Asia region for the Oral Health Working Group of the World Federation of Public Health Associations.






Sreejith Govindan
is working as Assistant Professor of Microbiology at Melaka Manipal Medical College (Manipal Campus) a constituent institute of Manipal University. He has completed his Ph. D. in Microbiology from Manipal University during the year 2013. He also holds a post graduate diploma in epidemiology from Indian institute of public health, New Delhi. He has completed two government funded research projects in the recent past and also attended few national and international conferences in microbiology and medical education in the past years and also published articles in various scientific journals. He has undergone training in the fields of biostatistics, bioinformatics, molecular biology techniques etc. His areas of interest in research are epidemiology of infectious diseases, drug resistant bacterial pathogens and communication of communicable diseases. 





Subhashree A.R
is working as a Professor of Pathology in Sree Balaji Medical College and Hospital, Chennai for eight years. She is the coordinator of the Medical education unit and the chief editor of college magazine. She has attended the MCI-advanced medical education course conducted by SRMC, Porur. She has published papers on Medical education. Her special interests are Medical education, Hematology and Diabetology. Recently, under her guidance, two of her undergraduate students presented papers in International Medical Education Conference conducted in KL, Malaysia (April 2015).







Suneeta Kalasuramath
is working as Associate Professor in the Department of Physiology, Shamanur Shivashankarappa Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre, Davangere, Karnataka, India. She is a doctorate from St John ’s Medical College, Bangalore and skilled in thermal ionization mass spectrometry (TIMS) applications on understanding iron physiology. After attaining the basic medical technology course she now is been trained in a year advance course in medical education at the nodal centre, JNMC, Belgaum. She has been instrumental in undergraduate medical ICMR-STS research works and for their various presentations at national & international conferences. She holds an editorial board member post in a peer reviewed Journal of public health & medical research. She was also an active member of Institutional Ethics Review Board and college quarterly news bulletin. She has various publications in the field of physiology, medical education and allied health sciences. She has keen interest in women and child health nutrition, in curriculum development that would foster self directed learning among medical students in India and in learning technologies in medical education to make learning enjoyable and memorable. 



Teddy Andrews J
is presently working as a Senior Grade Lecturer at Department of Public Health, Manipal University, India. A Social Worker by training, served at different capacities for 12 years in teaching, research, training and field practice across different cultures. His teaching assignments include courses related to mental health, methods of Social Work, research methodology and social and behavioral sciences in Social Work and Public Health programmes. He provide research guidance to the students and one of the co-investigators in 3 different projects across different departments of the University. He coordinates and tutors in an online foundation course on Global Health conducted jointly by Maastricht University, The Netherlands and Manipal University. Running training programs on counselling, life skills, research methods, stress management and so on for diverse participants are part of his professional assignments. Eight publications in International and National Journals and books add to his credentials. He worked extensively in adolescent health intervention projects on designing, implementing and evaluating of intervention packages, capacity building, reporting and dissemination of findings with a team of professionals from different disciplines. His experience in providing mental health care include provision of psychosocial interventions at individual, family and group level in treating people with mental illness. His areas of interest lie in mental health, adolescent health and ageing. After completing MSW from Loyola College, India, he pursued his M.Phil degree in Social Work from Bharathidasan University, India and a Post Graduate Diploma in Gerontology and Geriatrics, from European Centre of Gerontology, University of Malta.

Vineetha Ravindranath
is working as Associate Professor in Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology, Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Manipal. She is actively involved in undergraduate and post graduate teaching, curriculum planning and also patient care. She is also a member of postgraduate Board of studies and also works as the ISO internal auditor for the institution. She also guides postgraduate thesis dissertations and also has mentored undergraduate projects. She has several publications indexed journals of the specialty and has presented papers and posters in various papers in regional, national and international conferences and has won awards.
